When Emma Sasha Silver loses her eyesight in a nightmare accident, she must relearn everything from walking across the street to recognizing her own sisters to imagining colors. One of seven children, Emma used to be the invisible kid, but now it seems everyone is watching her. And just as she’s about to start high school and try to recover her friendships and former life, one of her classmates is found dead in an apparent suicide. Fifteen and blind, Emma has to untangle what happened and why in order to see for herself what makes life worth living.
I honestly didn’t like this book as much as “She Is Not Invisible.” It’s not because it’s a bad book, but when I read the description, I thought she would be solving the mystery behind her classmate’s death. It was just sort of disappointing. It’s more of a self-growing and self-learn journey kind of book.
Unlike Laureth in “She Is Not Invisible,” Emma wasn’t born blind. She could see for the first fifteen years of her life and then lose it. I don’t blame Emma for being gloomy and harsh in the beginning. She lost her sight in a freak accident, her whole world turned upside down. That’s hard on anybody.
