I Am a Cat by Galia Bernstein

Simon thinks he’s a cat.

But Lion, Cheetah, Puma, Panther, and Tiger disagree.

Can Simon convince the big cats that they are all more alike than they seem?

I saw this book at the library, and my first thought was, “Kitty!” This is a simple picture book that shows that cats come in all shapes and sizes, and they are all great.

I like cats. Especially big wild cats. They’re so strong and beautiful, and their faces are so cute. It doesn’t matter the color of their fur or their size; they all look so sweet. Until they start growling and swiping at your face.

Retractable claws are awesome. Anytime I meet a cat who will let me touch them, I like to play with their paws. There’s a pressure point you can press, and out pop the claws. One moment they’re normal, next moment they’re Wolverine.

My favorite thing about cats is their purring. They sound like a little motorboat. My dog Dude sometimes purrs when he sleeps (it might just be a soft snore, but I like to think that he’s purring). Have you ever wondered if big cats purr like domestic cats? Click on the YouTube link below to find out.
