Book Reviews

Mel Fell by Corey R. Tabor

Sometimes, you might fall down, down, down, before you learn to fly up, up, up . . .

I love this cute and innovative book so much! Unlike most books, the spine is on the top and not on the side. It was fun to turn the book in a nontraditional way.

I love the beautiful and straightforward illustration style, from the bright colors to the cute little stick limbs. I love how the author/illustrator takes full advantage of the vertical book layout to show the action as Mel zooms past other animals.

Mell is based on a real bird species called a kingfisher. Here’s a picture.

Beautiful, isn’t it? I love the bright blue.
